The 2011 vintage is closer to a 'cheap aperitif' than a wine. At 15 proof and being made essentially of the 'not so noble' grenache grape in that "incontournable" -!- vintage, it should sell for less than AUD20 after our 'as heavy' taxes for French wines in Australia, please, do not forget: 'high price' doesn't always equal 'high quality' even with the now too big a business name 'Chapoutier', who are really making money these days, neglecting the quality of their wines along the way. It must be drinken as asap especially now, after some smart marketers have managed to do a bit of profiteering along the way... This wine, notwithstanding its 'appelation controlee' is NOT representative of the 'classic' Chateauneuf du Pape usually made up of many interesting different grapes in its making, Dan Murphy's buyers should have bought it for a lot less so that it sells in Australia for what it is really worth: very little.
