Thought I may try this as haven't before... Not good, did not enjoy this... Also gave me very bad headache. I only drink shiraz, and have been buying only my favourites, but decided to try something new.

More in the cheap range of reds, lacking any flavour won't be buying again

Marvellous: that's the 2021 vintage of this. Surely one of the best sub-$20 reds currently available and among the best value in the marketplace. I'm not a fan of Australian shiraz in general, finding so many at this price, and not a few above, little more than simple 'fruit & chocolate' bombs. Not here. For sickly plum, think cherry-tinged blackberry; for heavy chocolate, think an array of hinted flavours - nuts, olive, maybe coffee and see what herbs/spices you pick on the palate. Still basically a plush-fruit-driven wine - but so much more, offering layers of complexity many of its rivals don't begin to approach. I've tried earlier vintages and they've stacked up well - without achieving this level of balance and interest. My verdict: get some of the '21 while it's still around - even if you're used to buying in a higher price bracket. Interesting to compare the next few releases.
