The Coutada Velha Signature Red Blend is an excellent value wine. I can only agree with the many other reviewers. It has great Tempranillo (the Arogonez) flavour further filled out by the Trincadeira and spiciness from the Cabernet Sauvignon. I’m looking forward to finding more of this type of red wine later this year in Portugal.

I am not a wine connoisseur. I don’t know all the jargon to explain how beautiful each mouthful of this wine is. But it is lovely. My favourite wine is Gibson Reserve, about $50 something a bottle and this humble $18 bottle is comparable in it’s smoothness. Trust me just buy a bottle.

Clean and aromatic with aromas of dark plum, fresh raspberry and subtle herbs. Medium plus acidity and medium tannin. It’s a well structured wine with mellow entry on the palate. Medium plus acidity with a mouthfeel of raspberry’s and red apple. Pairs well with Carolina or Perri Perri chicken wings glazed with honey.
