Nice and light: an initial concentrated savoury flavour that backs off pretty quickly, leaving a faint berry freshness on the palate. I’m a big Pinot noir fan and this is a nice alternative in the same vein. Great price for this bottle, has gone really well with homemade salami pizza.

We have been slowly disconnecting from Oz reds. Older now... Oz reds are well made but too heavy and tannic for us now. Trying Pinot, gamay and other varieties from Europe. Have tried Mencia variety when in Portugal. Not bad. So tried this one. Yep, same flavour profile as gamay and Pinot. But more complex, with a nice nose, silky smooth, fruit driven (not savoury) and without tannin. We detected blackberry, smoky cherry. Not a hint of harshness or sugary cover-ups. We were amazed. You MUST try this, especially at Dan's special price! I love you, Australia, but this IS the future...

Haven’t had much Mercia before; Bierzo is a region in Spain more known for this grape varietal - Mencia. Medium ruby colored and body, medium tannins, somewhat chewy albeit the finish is a bit short on this. Notes of cherry, cranberry, some smoke, earthy, some oak and vanilla notes, and some pepper. Might say this might go well with meat. All in all it’s a good red whether for everyday dinners or not. Terrific price point even without My Dan’s prices. Would want to try higher-priced Mencias.

A very nice Mencía and considering the price, this would be one of the best value wine on the shelf. Highly recommend.

This might be the best value red wine out there! Medium body, delicious fruit, super food friendly. Chilled it in the fridge for 15 mins before opening it too. Will buy again
