The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Illicit Still tells the story of how George Smith illegally distilled his whisky in hand-crafted, small copper stills in a hidden bothy located in the remote Glenlivet Valley. He smuggled his whisky across the Scottish Highlands in order to avoid the excisemen and subsequently created the iconic Scotch that’s loved the world over. Smith’s whisky reshaped conventions at the time and is the origin of Speyside’s signature fruity and floral style. Inspired by this distinctive style, this limited edition pays homage to where it all began.

 

The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Illicit Still is non-chill filtered and has a higher than average alcohol content of 48% ABV, inspired by the traditional methods of the time. The Glenlivet’s iconic fruity and floral style is intensified in the new limited-edition Scotch that is characterised by tropical and sweet notes whilst having an exceptionally long and smooth finish.
