I wanted to love this Whisky because of the price tag. But I just couldn't justify the cost. It is nice, and there is nothing wrong with it, it is just not a $100+ bottle. So much so, when I bought this I also bought the 21 year old, that was coming up on 5 years ago, and I still haven't opened it. I always read reviews before trying a new whisky, and it is so much better now than 5 years ago. But I have to wonder with all these awesome reviews on this bottle, am I missing something or are people just convincing themselves after spending so much for an average bottle.

This is a very nice whisky, but it shouldn't be priced more than $100 a bottle. No twelve year old whisky bottled at only 43% ABV is worth >$100. Come on Dan Murphy, you can do better than that. Still, since everyone was raving about it, I ended up buying a bottle. On the nose you get the rich Christmas cake notes of dried fruit, typical of a spirit aged in sherry casks. It is rich, elegant and slightly aloof. On tasting, however, there is a coquettish quality about this whisky, the way it gently bites you on the tongue with a spiciness amongst all the sweetness of dried fruit and brown sugar. Very seductive... This is all very well and good, but it still costs more than $100 a bottle and it's simply not worth that much..... or is it?
