Aroma: sweet cinnamon and allspice. A mid tan head which disappears in about 30 seconds. Moderate carbonation. Palate: Pleasant initial fizz followed by burdock, coffee, chocolate, and toasted oats. Long, dry, toasty finish. I'm a fan of Coopers Best Extra, and although a bit more costly, this is more complex and more fun due to the additional fizz and burdock notes (reminiscent of the dandelion and burdock of my youth). Recommended, even though I live much closer to Boag's (Launceston) than Cascade Brewery (Hobart)!. It's a taxi back home if you session this off-premises!

With a perfect balance of darkness and sweetness, this is the ideal session beer for the encroaching Tassie winter. At a cool 5.8%, it's mellow enough to sip at room temperature all day whilst just strong enough to be an excuse to abandon any obligations too far from the fridge. The 'Export' in the title is slightly misleading though, we'd rather keep this one secret...
