Like nearly all Penfolds reds this one is finely crafted and drinks beautifully, but is way over-priced. I am hoping the significant easing of demand from China will bring Penfolds prices back to where they are reasonably competitive with other brands producing wines of comparable quality. Thanks to Dan’s for putting this one on special for members.

Sharp on the tongue, no real depth or complexity to the flavour. I had such high hopes for this wine but it’s barely a $20 Shiraz.

Just had a bottle of the 2016 vintage, it is a sad reflection of the Bin 28 I have been drinking for many years. A bit of a knock to Penfolds reputation this one. It reminded me of when we used to drink Coke and shake it up and let all the gases out of it. There was a bit of fruit back there somewhere but not much else.
