Memorable because this was my Grandads favourite Rose. As a wine drinker myself and spending many years living nearby and visiting different wine regions, a rose is a classic drink that you can excusably pair with anything and my choice during the summer. Toasting yesterday for my grandads birthday, even non wine drinkers enjoyed a cool glass of Mateus as I remembered the things I enjoyed about this wine. You can see from the colour that its a deeper red to a lot of softer pink roses, encased in a unique recognisable flask shaped bottle. Portugal as known for dryer reds I think encapsulated a great affordable dryer well rounded rose on the market. Most reviews will sum it up the same, Mateus is the perfect rose for non wine or rose drinkers, that can be paired with just about everything with its perfect balance of not being too dry or sweet, nor too acidic but perfectly floral and timeless in where this wine has been a classic staple for 80yrs and still one generations come back to.

This was the first rosé I tried many years ago and I still come back to it. It tastes as good as ever and goes well with everything. A good choice if you have white wine and red wine drinkers. It has a little more flavour and body than white but less harsh than red wine.
